Our Staff Testimonials Whatever I have achieved for this organization, it is all because of the support and cooperation of the inspiring CORP staff. At Thane Centre, one of our HIV+ children, in spite of her illness and suffering, actively participated in our programmes until the last phase of her life. Her enthusiasm inspired me to go ahead in my work with zeal. The smile of mentally challenged Damyanti and also Manoj saying “Namaste Didi” in his stammering words increases my sense of responsibility. The laughter of the orphan kids of our Thane Shelter inspires me to work with renewed spirit. I hope that CORP’s whole team including myself will see our organization always on the epitome of success by working in a positive direction.

– Hasina Anand, Social Worker, Thane. With CORP for 27 years.

In the beginning, I worked with the physically challenged, deaf and mute kids at Shalom Centre. In the year 2000, the Sharanam Centre for Girls started. I felt a strong desire to serve the orphans and destitute children. I was moved at the sad plight of these needy children, especially when 5 year old Chanda told me, “I do not want to call you Didi but I want to call you Mummy,” since Chanda, who is an orphan lacked mother affection and warmth. I felt highly emotional and then onwards, I acted more as a “foster parent” to the girls and not as “caretaker.” At Sharanam, we all stay as one family. The progress and well-being of the girls is my biggest treasure. At Sharanam, I have found peach and contentment and Sharanam is everything for me.

I thank God for giving an opportunity to work with the street children at Reay Road Centre. This year I have been promoted as Supervisor and I am fully in-charge of the centre. I am proud to work with the underprivileged children, no doubt, I will offer my best services toward their profess and well-being. Needless to say, CORP’s encouragement enabled me to prove myself as an efficient social worker. I am very grateful to CORP and our Director, Nirmal Sir, for trusting me and giving me this responsibility.

– Flora Chinnapan, Supervisor at Reay Road Centre. With CORP for 24 years.

I am proud to be a part of CORP. I hail from an economically backward family, living in the slums of Dharavi, where life was miserable since there was no water supply, no electricity, no proper sanitation, no place for the children to enjoy basic necessities. In such miserable conditions, CORP acted as a “Ray of Hope” for many people of my standing. Initially, when I joined CORP, I worked as a volunteer and CORP imparted me training in various fields, such as Health Worker, Sewing Teacher and also Creche Teacher. After, attending various training and development programmes through CORP, I started the first “Mahila Mandal” (Women’s Group), small scale production units (enabling poor women to earn their livelihood) and also the Family Counseling Centre. At present, I am working as Social Worker and I am looking after 4 projects. Indeed, I am grateful to CORP, since throughout my life’s journey till date, I was moulded from time to time to achieve my goal in life.
